Tierre is the author of the chapbook, The Sapphire Saga and a book of poems, I Chased A Butterfly Today. A transplanted Southerner living in North Carolina, Tierre is an attorney, wife and mother of two children. She has a Juris Doctor from Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University and a Master of Fine Arts from Queens University in Charlotte. She is currently working on her third poetry collection.
Tierre says she fell in love with poetry at age 12, when she snuck a copy of Black Talk, Black Judgment by Nicki Giovanni off her parent's bookshelf. She often says that “poems are stories with rhythm and melody.” Because of that belief, she uses common language to paint vivid pictures of the lived experiences of ordinary people.
Tierre has performed poems dramatically and with music
to help spread the joy of the spoken word.
